| Tuesday, April 3, 2012 7-9 PM Vaccines: Its Your Choice | At some point in our holistic journeys, we may have debated with ourselves and our loved ones on the topic of childhood vaccinations. This topic feels forever on the forefront of public debate in the media and can cause disruption in many of our pediatrician's offices, no matter your personal choice to vaccinate or not. Join us this month as Dr. Mayer Eisenstein, M.D., J.D., M.PH., from Homefirst Health Services, presents his opinion on the choice to be informed with the latest and most current information on vaccine laws for Illinois, your rights as parents, and what one can expect to hear from doctor's office visits. If you are having doubts as a parent about your decision to vaccinate, or have additional questions about vaccinations and the legal processes surrounding the school system, you won't want to miss this meeting! Bring your pencils and notebooks for this one! Come a few minutes early to grab your seat, as this topic brings the most attendance from the public each year. | Member Profile

How long have you been a member of HMN? Since sept 2009 I'm a Holistic Mom because: It is the right thing to do ! I want to give my children the best. This includes extended exclusive breastfeeding followed by the best food (organic, vegetarian, whole home cooked foods) and a return to natural hands on parenting which is just not supported by today's consumer driven corporate society. My holistic passions are: Real food!!! Organic, local, sustainable food and home cooked meals. Also, breastfeeding, and baby wearing/attachment parenting. What inspires me about Holistic Moms or holistic living? I love getting to meet other like minded women who are equally passionate about active THOUGHTFUL parenting. I love that we are all different, with a different perspective and passion, but yet we can come together with the common bond of mindful parenting and a desire to question the norm to do better for our family. One of my favorite healthy recipes: Crustless spinach pie (all organic ingredients) Saute diced onions, then add a large amount of choppped spinach, kale and/or other greens and a large handful of chopped sundried tomatoes. When cooked transfer to a pie plate. Whip several eggs with about a cup of soy milk, then pour this mixture over the greens in the pie plate. Top with grated cheese (any kind works, I like a mix of parm, cheddar +/- goat). Bake at 350 until brown, about 45 min to 1 hr. Delicious, like a quiche and so easy. | | | Thank you to Divine Power Yoga and Mary Frances for an amazing evening of yoga, meditation and socializing.
