Monthly Chapter Meeting
Informed Consent -
Vaccination and More
Tuesday,  June 5th, 7 pm
Our meeting will be based on HMN's first guiding principle:
Making informed and educated parenting decisions around pivotal issues such as childbirth, breastfeeding, wellness, vaccination, circumcision, nutrition, interpersonal communication, discipline, and education, among others

Parents need to be aware of alternative and holistic options that may differ from conventional choices in order to make an informed choice that best suits their family and their personal values.

Presenters will be Nicole Marie from IC4IC, and Mark Zumhagen, MD.

Nicole Marie will be represents IC4IC -
Illinois Coalition for Informed Consent. (IC4IC) is an Illinois group of activists formed in 2016. We stand behind the following: Parental Rights Vaccine Safety Natural Immunity Holistic & Homeopathic Medicine Informed Consent Freedom of Medical Choice Healthy Food GMO Labeling Clean Air & Water Civil Rights.

IC4IC does not offer medical advice and encourages all to be educated and informed when making medical decisions. The content shared by or within this group is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Dr. Mark Zumhagen's approach is integrative, offering nutritional and homeopathic therapies as well as allergy elimination and support for diet and lifestyle changes. He and his office staff are committed to providing cutting-edge care that improves health and optimizes wellness by assisting the body's own innate, God-created healing capacities.

Dr. Zumhagen has practiced family medicine for 27 years in Chicago and its suburbs. His experience has focused on general family medicine with an emphasis on pediatric and home OB care. In 2009 he began a nutrition-based practice in Orland Park, IL, and joined Fearfully and Wonderfully Made Inc. to offer Nutrition Response Testing.

Dr. Zumhagen grew up in Rockford, IL, where he attended Guilford High School, then went on to attend Rockford College. There he received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with honors. He subsequently attended medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and completed his family practice internship at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL.

How long have you been a member of HMN?
Since April 2018

I am a holistic mom because:
I always had an interest in a holistic lifestyle.  But it wasn't until I became a mom and started questioning the conventional medical approach that I fully embraced the holistic lifestyle. I always felt in my soul that there is a better and natural way to raise a child.  I was a bit scared and intimidated at first, especially at the pediatrician's office when you have lots of questions and get the looks. Slowly and surely I did my own research and allowed my gut feeling to lead me to become a holistic mom.

My holistic passions are:
Holistic Cooking- I am a holistic chef, work with a numerous number of holistic doctors, create recipes and prepare meals that include real whole organic foods for health-conscious people with a special emphasis on a nutritarian lifestyle to both heal and nourish our bodies.
Traveling- learning from different cultures with ancient wisdom on how they live happily  and fulfill a beautiful, healthy and long life.
Alternative medicine and the power of Mother Nature's herbs and plants.

What inspires you about HMN or holistic living?
I feel an immense gratitude to be part of this amazing community as I am able to meet like-minded people and I don't feel like the only one who doesn't fit in a group.  I am truly appreciative of the support and learning opportunities offered by HMN and to reciprocate by helping others with my own experiences and knowledge.

One of my favorite healthy recipes:

Wild Alaskan Salmon Sashimi with Green Dandelion Pesto

This is my family's favorite that requires no cooking and it's prepared in 10 minutes. I pair the wild Alaskan salmon with cilantro, basil and green dandelions to avoid the absorption of possible heavy metals from the wild fish.  The combination of good fats from wild Alaskan salmon, hemp seeds and olive oil along with the fresh powerful herbs offer a complex meal for everyone in the family.

Ingredients:
6 oz wild Alaskan salmon fillet, sushi grade (semi frozen)
1 organic lemon, juiced
Himalayan salt to taste
Pesto: 1 cup organic fresh basil
           1/4 cup organic fresh cilantro
1/4 cup organic fresh green dandelions
           1 cup organic hemp seeds
1/4 cup fresh organic lemon juice or more to taste
2 Tbs organic cold pressed, extra virgin high quality olive oil
           1-2 organic fresh garlic gloves
           1 tsp Himalayan salt

Directions:
Use a sharp sushi knife and slice carefully the semi frozen wild Alaskan salmon fillet (remove skin and bones if any).  Arrange them nicely on a plate, sprinkle with salt and lemon juice while working on the pesto.
Blend all the pesto ingredients in a high speed blender such Vitamix.  Adjust taste and consistency if necessary.
Serve the salmon dipped in pesto and enjoy right away.  Enjoy every single bite!

Improvements to our Privacy Policy and Privacy Controls

Google
Updating Our Privacy Policy
This month, we're updating our Privacy Policy to make it easier for you to understand what information we collect and why we collect it. We've also taken steps to improve our Privacy Checkup and other controls we provide to safeguard your data and protect your privacy.
Nothing is changing about your current settings or how your information is processed. Rather, we've improved the way we describe our practices and how we explain the options you have to update, manage, export, and delete your data.
We're making these updates as new data protection regulations come into effect in the European Union, and we're taking the opportunity to make improvements for Google users around the world.
Making our Privacy Policy easier to understand
Simpler structure & clearer language
We've improved the navigation and organization of the policy to make it easier to find what you're looking for. We've also explained our practices in more detail and with clearer language.
New descriptive videos & illustrations
Often a visual description is easier to understand than text alone, so we've added short videos and illustrations throughout the policy.
Embedded privacy controls
We've made it easier to jump to key settings directly from the policy, helping you make choices about your privacy.
The revised policy is available here and will take effect on May 25, 2018.
Improving your privacy controls
Within the past year, we updated My Activity so that you can better access and manage the data in your Google Account. We also launched a redesigned Dashboard, which allows you to easily see an overview of products you're using and your data associated with them.
This month, we've updated our Privacy Checkup with new illustrations and examples to help you make more informed choices about your key privacy controls. And since we understand that your preferences may change over time, the new Privacy Checkup enables you to sign up for regular reminders to check your privacy settings.
To learn more about these and other controls to manage your privacy, visit your Google Account.
