MONTHLY CHAPTER MEETING HOLISTIC MOMS CONNECT - Simplicity Living WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20TH, 7 PM Have you ever gone on vacation and found your simplified surroundings and essential belongings provided peace and relaxation? The feeling didn't come about ONLY because you were on vacation. It's actually a "thing." Minimalism, decluttering, Fly Lady and life-changing magical action of tidying "with joy" are just a few of the hot trends moving through American culture. Fortunately, these methods and practices coincide with the Holistic Moms Network's guiding principles: * Seek respectful and nurturing relationships with others * Actively participate in our own healing process * Balance and integrate the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of being * Teach our children to respect and care about the natural world * Limit our children's exposure to advertising, marketing, and a consumer-driven culture * Living more simply and consuming less See how decluttering and minimizing your possessions mesh with these principles at our next meeting. We will show an introductory video, then share and learn from one another's experiences participating in some of these methods. Some resources will be shared. You will have the opportunity to set a goal and perhaps find an accountability partner to assist you in achieving these goals. Time at the end of the meeting is reserved to enjoy conversation and connection with members and guests. Please bring a notepad, pen and a friend! Our monthly meetings are always free and open to the public. Meeting Location: Steeple Run Clubhouse, 6s050 Steeple Run Drive, Naperville, IL. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- APRIL MEETING...SAVE THE DATE! I make informed decisions when it comes to food, environment and health. We eat organic, use non toxic products as much as possible, we recycle, limit screen time, and practice mindfulness. My holistic passions are: My holistic passions are homeopathy, clean eating, and helping our environment. What inspires you about HMN or holistic living? What inspires me about holistic living is my children. I want to raise them to be mindful, respectful, and make their health a priority using holistic methods. One of my favorite recipes: CHICKEN PAPRIKASH (like a chicken stew) 1-2 chopped onions 1 cup finely chopped celery 5-6 chopped carrots Your choice of peppers cut into thick strips (I use at least 2 red, 2 orange, 2 yellow. I usually put in 6-10 peppers.) Garlic - (optional, I don't use garlic) Chicken - (I use 1 pkg drumsticks, 1 pkg thighs (I use thighs with bones), 1 pkg breast - the breast I cut into chunks.) Butter, Ghee, or oil for sautéing Salt to taste Ground red pepper to taste Pepper to taste Put the Butter/Ghee/ Oil in stock pot. Add onions and celery. Sautee 10-15 mins. Add the chicken drumstick and thighs. Salt/Pepper/ Ground red pepper to tast. Sautee for another 10-15 minutes. Add the colorful peppers, carrots (these could be added earlier too with the onions and celery, i usually wait). Let that cook for 10-15 mins. Add the chicken breast. Mix all together. I let it cook together at least another 30 minutes or so, on simmer. The chicken and peppers release a lot of water, So it turns into like a thick soup/stew. I serve it with either mashed potatoes, rice, or your choice of noodles. Makes one huge pot of paprikash/stew. | | | | | 2019 MEETINGS (subject to change) 3rd Wednesday of each month, 7 - 9 PM (unless otherwise noted) LOCATION: Steeple Run Clubhouse, 6s050 Steeple Run Drive, Naperville, IL.
