Maine Smart Meter Investigation may ripple through nation
July 25, 2012 -

While it's too soon to say how comprehensive Maine's review will be, no state utility agency has held public hearings or conducted its own research into whether radio-frequency radiation from the digital devices is harmful to electricity customers, according to Dan Richman, who has spent three years covering the topic for the online trade publication Smart Grid Today.

In a decision released July 12, the court sided with opponents of the new-technology digital meters, who argued that regulators ignored their legal mandate to ensure the delivery of "safe, reasonable and adequate service."

Meter Guards, Electricians & No Trespass Signs
Across the country, residents have taken matters into their own hands. They have guarded their analog meters.   They have hired electricians to de-install smart meters when utilities have refused. They are locking up their gates, posting NO TRESPASS signs and protecting their property.*

This is no longer about smart meters.

This is about protecting your personal property.

This is about protecting your constitutional rights.

You are protected under the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment and the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

This is a utility policy that is being marketed as a mandated project. It is an opt in program.

Stand your ground!
Protect your property!

It is your home!

You have the right to protect your property from something that may harm you!

Take back your power!

More that you can do
Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home.  They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice.

According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter.

We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one.

Visit our website for more information on what you can do. Click here.

Contact the Attorney General's office (317-814-3000) or click here
Contact the Governor (312-814-2121) or click here to email
Contact Naperville's Chief of Police. (630-420-6666)
Contact the Better Government Association (312-520-4999); ashaw@bettergov.org
Contact the ACLU (312-201-9740) or acluofillinois@aclu-il.org
Contact the press.

Tell them Naperville is not a "police state" and residents won't accept being threatened or forced to install a meter on their home that they do not want.

If you have already made up your mind and don't want smart meters in our community then sign the Cease and Desist petition.

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)4 group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.

How long have you been a member of HMN?    About 6 months

I'm a Holistic Mom because:    I try to live as healthy as possible both for our bodies and our environment. I joined HMN to find like-minded moms that not only thought like me, but that encouraged these choices and could help continue to educate me. I have always tried to do my share to protect the environment, such as recycle, buy local, etc. I would say that I eat pretty healthy and have been fortunate to have very minimal medical treatment. Overall I considered my family to be pretty healthy. However, when I became pregnant "pretty healthy" wasn't enough for me. Not only did I want to take better care of myself, but also I wanted to do the very best for my child and so my holistic lifestyle has become much more important.

My holistic passions are:   It revolves around a healthy body. Starting with what we put in it to treating our bodies with the most minimally invasive route is most important to me. I feel all to often people run for the nearest drug or medicine to "fix" an aliment when it could have either been prevented or treated naturally. Anything I can do reduce the toxins we consume & absorb to allow for a healthier body vital to living healthy.

What inspires me about Holistic Moms or holistic living?

Within the short time that I have been a member of HMN it is easy to say that the women here inspire me the most. Everyone is open minded and accepting of each other's choices even if they differ from their own. It is amazing to see such a wonderful network of women in today's society. I have already learned so much from the few meetings I attended and from just talking to the women in this group. The women here have inspired me to continue on this holistic path and have given me the confidence to share my views with others.

One of my favorite healthy recipes:

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

2 pounds pork tenderloin

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 onion, thinly sliced

1 stalk celery, chopped

2 cups red wine

2 tablespoons flour

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

2. Place pork in a 9x13 inch baking dish, and sprinkle meat with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Top with onion and celery, and pour wine over all.

3. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

4. When done baking, remove meat from baking dish, and place on a serving platter.

5. In the same 9x13 pan, whisk flour into cooked juices and until thickened.

6. Slice meat, and cover with the gravy.
