How long have you been a member of Holistic Moms?  I joined as a member April 2014

I am a holistic mom because:  There are several reasons...
*I want the very best for my children.
*Thinking/living in a holistic way has been extremely empowering and has led my family to better health.
*It's a way of life I can feel good about.

My holistic passions are:  My holistic passions started out being health centered (chiropractic care, gut friendly eating, homeopathy, essential oils, Healing Touch, etc) but have also influenced my parenting style over the years (home birthing, breastfeeding, baby wearing, cloth diapering,  co-sleeping, etc).

What inspires you about HMN or holistic living?  I am inspired by the knowledge, compassion, and support of the ladies in the HMN. It's nice to share the journey with a community of like minded women.

One of my favorite healthy recipes:

Favorite GAPS recipe- STUFFED PEPPERS

4-5 bell peppers (depending on size)
2 Tbsp ghee (or other cooking fat)
1 medium onion, finely chopped)
1 lb ground beef
3-4 cloves of garlic, crushed
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp oregano
Salt to taste
1/2-1 cup meat broth
1 tomato
Cheese (optional)

1. Melt cooking fat in large skillet, saute onions on low for 5 mins, add seasoning and garlic. Stir.
2. Add meat and cook until meat is done.
3. Cut the tops off of the peppers, and remove seeds.
4. Grease bottom of oven proof pan. Place peppers in pan open side up and fill peppers with meat mix.
5. Pour meat broth in pan, around peppers.
6. Place a lid on pan, or aluminum foil, and bake for 30-45 mins at 350°.
7. When done, sprinkle cheese on top and add tomato. Return to oven to melt the cheese.

*If you want "rice" in your pepper, grate 1 cauliflower and add to meat filling 5 mins before meat is done.

Pure Prairie Farm

"Know your farmer.

 Love your food!"

Learn about our summer CSA!

At Pure Prairie Farm, We are passionate about agriculture, good land stewardship and food. We believe that everyone should have access to safe, nutrient dense, locally grown food.

We wish to (RE) connect people to freshness and flavorful.  Something familiar but milder, juicier, sweeter, crunchier ...a unique color or different texture. We work hard to grow food that is delicious, healthy and nourishing. We strive to achieve this by applying advanced soil and plant fertility, use minerals and advanced biological products.

Our vegetable selections expand yearly, often with several unusual and lessen known heirloom varieties tucked amongst customer favorites. We also have been looking forward to expanding to fruit; not just more melons and cantaloupe but strawberries, apples, pears, raspberries and pretty much anything that our midwest climate can handle. People love their sweets and we want to be able to provide it to them.

We sell our produce mostly direct to consumer at farmers markets, through our community supported agriculture shares (CSA), our farmstand in St. Charles. We also work with some restaurants, caterers, canners and other food professionals in the Fox Valley Area and surrounding communities.
