Tuesday, October 4, 7 pm

City Hall, 400 S Eagle St, Naperville

Show your opposition to the smart meter installation in Naperville.

The council feels there are less than 200 people that are OPPOSED to smart meters in Naperville, yet a ground swell of concern continues to emerge from the community.

The October 4th council meeting agenda item will focus on the $24.95/month penalty for a "work around" "smart" meter.  You've told us that you have not called to request the work around because you don't want a "smart" meter at all.

For this reason, the council and the utility assume you support the smart meters.

A large presence at the meeting will send a strong message to the council.

Meet at city hall by 6:45 pm. Let us know if you will be joining us:

NapervilleSmartMeters@yahoo.com  or call Jennifer 630-579-0659

Smart Meter Awareness gains support of prominent medical professionals, business owners, and clergy in Naperville

On Thursday, September 22, the Naperville Smart Meter Awareness group hosted its third community conversation regarding the dangers of the planned mass deployment of wireless smart meters in November.

The meeting hosted a group of  residents and business owners, including city councilman Doug Krause, former councilman Dick Furstenau as well as representatives from the Daily Herald.

The group, again, methodically dismantled the city's business case, privacy protections and its continued refusal to be concerned with health risks, despite the mounting reports and evidence provided to the council from non-industry funded scientists.

Grant Wherli, not in attendance, continues to ask for "credible" data but has yet to supply residents with the data that actually supports that a 57,000 wireless smart meter mesh network is both safe and cost effective.

September 22, 2011

Both Councilman Doug Krause and former Councilman Dick Furstenau have publicly expressed their concerns about this initiative.  Councilman Furstenau feels the opt out provision is unfair and the current testing on both the radiation emissions and quality of the meters is incomplete.

Several prominent medical professions, including an MD specializing in the treatment of children with Autism, a  Pediatrician, several Family Practitioners,  an Oncologist, several ER Doctors as well as a local Dentist, Pastor Dan Painter of Grace Point Church, and a commercial real estate agent of over 25 years have all signed the petition to cease and desist the installation of smart meters in Naperville.

The group is collecting both paper and on-line signatures.  If you would like to sign a paper petition, please email napervillesmartmeters@yahoo.com. To sign the on-line petition click here.  The number of residents concerned with this initiative is reaching the thousands and the group estimates they will reach their goal of 3000 signatures.

NSMA provided video from Dr. Henry Lai, Dr. Barrie Trower, and Dr. David Carpenter - all of whom have studied radio frequency and are warning of the negative health effects.   Dr. Lai refers to 53 independent peer reviewed studies confirming that RF radiation has severe negative health effects

Additionally, attendees viewed a town hall meeting in Santa Barbara, CA that discussed privacy issues. To see all videos from the presentations click here

The most significant information shared at this meeting was when the group's technical expert, a former wireless product manager and internet data strategist with over 22 years experience at Lucent, educated the public about why the radiation emitted from these meters will be constant; the group then showed a 3 minute video of a currently installed smart meter in Naperville.

Naperville Smart Meters Tested for RF Radiation
Naperville Smart Meters Tested
for RF Radiation

This video clearly shows that the city's claim of 78 seconds of transmission is not accurate.  The meters will be emitting around the clock and each resident, business owner, church and school in the city will be exposed to levels of radiation that are unprecedented.

Naperville residents take heed. Your city council has not listened to the experts.  They have not read the credible science.  They are not concerned for your privacy or safety. And above all, they have not given you the choice to participate or not participate in this program.

Be smart. Be informed. Sign the petition to stop smart meters in Naperville.

Come to the city council meeting on October 4, 7 pm to show your opposition. (400 S eagle St, Naperville)

Creating A Family Mission Statement
Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 7-9 PM
Fortune 500 companies have mission statements.  Non-profit corporations have mission statements.  Why not your family?  At our next meeting we'll talk about the basics of creating a Family Mission Statement for your family.  A family mission statement is a written statement of what you want your life and family to be, and the values by which you will live your life.  A family mission statement asks and answers questions like:  How are we going to live our lives?  What values are we going to use to help us make major decisions?  What are our priorities?  What are our family values?  Are we spending the majority of our time on our priorities or are we being distracted with things that aren't important to us?  Join us on Tuesday, October 4th, at 7:00 PM for this exciting topic!

How long have you been a member of HMN?   Since January 2009, when my youngest son was two months old.

I'm a Holistic Mom because: as my children's role model and teacher, I feel I am called to set an example for them of love and compassion and responsibility.  Living in a way in which we always question why and how, and don't just follow the crowd, we are able to make the most ethical choices in all aspects of our daily life.  Well, although I am an idealist and wish to make all the best choices, in our modern busy lifestyle we make some compromises, but always in my heart I strive to instill thoughtfulness and compassion in my children so they can have a strong foundation upon which to build their own lives.

My holistic passions are: natural birth, breastfeeding, and Oriental Medicine.  I believe the birth experience and what happens to us before we can speak for ourselves is the beginning of a happy productive life.  And I love to practice and learn Chinese Medicine.  I'll never run out of things to learn.

What inspires me about Holistic Moms or holistic living?  I am inspired by the idea that change in the world begins within yourself and next in your family unit.  When I get overwhelmed by the problems of the world, it inspires me to live my own life in a way that if everyone did there wouldn't be all these problems.  I certainly fall short of my ideals, but I do the best I can without pulling out my hair!

Will you save $24.95 a month?

Calling all residents and business owners:

Now is your opportunity to tell the council that you will not accept a $24.95/month service charge to protect your home or business.

As mentioned in one of our previous newsletters (click here), the city is not really offering an opt out program.  What was once called an opt out is now being referred to as a "work around", but it will cost you.

In an effort to address residents concerns about radiation emitted by smart meters, the city will install the industrial strength commercial smart meter with the wireless chip pulled out for those who want to "opt out". Clearly overkill with increased transient electricity into your home and more meter reads than the residential meter.

The city's business case estimates that residents will save less than $3/month by using the functionality of the smart meters.  Cost savings that continue to be unsubstantiated in the marketplace.

And while the "work around" offers some hope for protection in your individual home, kind of, it really does not address the radiation issue if you are surrounded by neighbors or businesses that all have 24/7 radiation emitting wireless smart meters.

Furthermore, if you are concerned about privacy, this solution does nothing for you.

The city maintains that only a small group of residents are concerned.  We maintain that the bulk of residents don't know and when they become informed, they are concerned. Very concerned!

The council will be discussing the "work around" program at the next city council meeting.  Now is a perfect time to tell the city how you feel.

The meeting is held Tuesday, September 20 at 7pm 400 S. Eagle St.  The work around has been placed near the end of the agenda, a calculated move no doubt, so plan on being there for the bulk of the meeting.

Sign in by 6:45 pm to be able to comment on the agenda item.

This is a call to action.

Tell the city that $24.95/month is an unfair and costly "punishment" for the right to protect your family.

Scroll down to see more of what you can do.
