How long have you been a member of HMN?
Since 2013

I am a holistic mom because:
I like to think comprehensively about wellness and explore a variety of resources when it comes to meeting my family's needs.

My holistic passions are:
Health & wellness; social justice & advocacy; spirituality; and spreading joy.

What inspires you about HMN or holistic living?
I am a clinical social worker by training and HMN espouses many of the same values as the social work profession.  I find it inspiring that HMN seeks to unify mothers and families by embracing where they are in their holistic journeys, encouraging exploration of options, and promoting the idea that we can support each unique mother in making the choices that she decides are best for her/her family.

What is your favorite healthy recipe?

Apple-Cinnamon Muffins

Liquid Ingredients
1 large egg, at room temperature
1/3 cup canola oil
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
2 cups peeled and coarsely grated Granny Smith apples (about 2 medium apples)

Dry Ingredients
1 cup Carol's Sorghum Blend Flour (Recipe Below)
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons xanthan gum
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup dark raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

  1. Place a rack in the middle of the oven.  Preheat the oven to 325* F. Generously grease the cups of a 6-cup large non-stick (gray, not black) muffin pan or line them with paper liners and coat with cooking spray.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg, oil, and vanilla together just until blended.  Stir in the apples.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients except the raisins and walnuts.  With a spatula, gradually stir in the dry ingredients just until they are incorporated.  Stir in the raisins and walnuts.  Divide the batter evenly in the muffin pan.
  4. Bake 25-30 minutes or until the muffin tops are firm and edges start to pull away from the pan.  Cook the muffins in the pan 10 minutes.  Transfer the muffins to a wire rack to cool another 5 minutes.  Serve warm.

Carol's Sorghum Blend (Gluten Free Flour)
1 1/2 cups of sorghum flour
1 1/2 cups of potato starch or cornstarch
1 cup of tapioca flour

Whisk the ingredients together until well blended.  Store, tightly covered, in a dark, dry place.  You may refrigerate or freeze the blend, but bring to room temperature before using.  Makes 4 cups.  You may double or triple the recipe.

Come and joins us to Part ONE of The Freedom Keys 4 part Series, where you will gather together in a sacred space of like minded women where we will support one another to dive into exploring a deeper version of authentic selves. In this space, we can surrender the weight of the world, laugh and for a few hours allow ourselves the gift of receiving. To know and BELIEVE that experiencing passion, pleasure, freedom, fun and fulfillment is the key to living a delicious satisfying life.

Workshop 1: OPEN up to New Possibilities
Workshop 2: AWAKEN your Feminine Presence
Workshop 3: Embrace your Feminine Power
Workshop 4: Believe in your Feminine Potential

Open up to new possibilities - If we truly want to live out our divine purpose in life, we must be willing and open to say YES to God.    Sometimes it can appear easier to say no and close the door to new possibilities.  When we choose comfort and safety over the unknown, we end up hiding from reality and our own truth.    The truth is, change is the only real constant in our lives.   Being open means that we allow God to speak to us in many ways.  An open mind is essential to keeping God's voice fresh and his message relevant.

In class one we will focus on:
Being open and receptive to receiving
Activate your awareness of focused intention
Taking risks to new possibilities & exploring new options
Acknowledge what is & what is not working
Embody an executive presence in a way that is authentic
The experience will include the following:
 - Intention setting & grounding
 - Feeling vs.Thinking (being in our body)
 - Embodiment practice lesson (dance, movement & music)
 - Experiencial activities
 - Feminine Presence Moving Meditation
 - Group sharing

Cost $25 for each session
