The momentum is growing and despite the Council telling us that the project is on hold, we have seen much evidence to the contrary.
Another opportunity exists to show your concern.
Please email council and attend the next council meeting on 3/15 at 7 pm. Municipal Building 400 S Eagle Street. We really need a big crowd to attend.
We have found out that although the DPUE stated at the last meeting that there is no beta test being performed currently, there are 100 meters installed in the East Highland neighborhood of Naperville. This is across from Edward's Hospital. They were installed in 2009 and so far we haven't found any residents who remember being informed. We are advising those residents to call the city to lodge a complaint as well as the DPUE. We also suggest they ask for documentation on their informed consent.
We are happy to see some of the council members asking a lot of questions: Krause, Furstenau and Patty Gustin (running for council). It may be worth looking into their positions and voting their way.
We have a facebook page and website and we encourage you to check out citycouncilwatchdog.com for clips from the city council meetings.

Dear Council Members,
I have been monitoring the progress of the controversy surrounding the smart meters in our city. I would like to express my concerns about the lack of transparency, the poor planning and lack of beta testing that went into this project.
I am not one of the "uninformed and disengaged" that your PR firm identified as the majority of Naperville residents. I am informed on this issue and feel that this technology is not proven enough to be utilizing taxpayer dollars to install the smart meters at this time. There is too much world-wide controversy surrounding these meters and I am not willing to allow our city to be "lessons learned" for other communities that will install this technology down the road.
I encourage the council to stop this install and to begin from the beginning, carefully analyzing the fiscal feasibility and necessity of this expenditure at such a critical time, when our city is facing budget constraints and our state is bankrupt.
I do not support the installation of a wireless meter on my home, nor do I support the wireless meter install on our businesses, churches and especially our schools. There is enough evidence to be concerned about the risks associated with these meters.
Please act wisely and swiftly by not simply putting the project on hold but by stopping the project entirely until more data can be collected and some of the controversies in the world-wide stage have worked themselves out.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME
