Josie created Bunjee Books after adapting books for speech therapy sessions by changing the wording into short, simple, relatable stories that would grab the child's attention. She wanted to empower more children after seeing such a positive impact on her clients. She developed a unique way to encourage the child to participate by encouraging them to "tell" the character in a book something, in their way, by using a gesture, pointing, or imitating the model of a sound/word with the phrase, "You tell _." They loved it - because they felt empowered to be able to "tell" someone something!
This lift flap book has repetitive lines and uses strategies of modeling, pausing, and the phrase, "You tell Bunjee _" to encourage participation and responding! It is an introduction to social-emotional learning- little ones can learn labels of emotions, recognize reactions and imitate actions, and identify and label colors.
These books help young people understand their emotions better, navigate the social world, and foster relationships.
