| | | | | A Letter From Our President... | Dear Friends and Neighbors: Instead of buying into the hype that "smart" meters are the next big "it" gadget to have, we need to thoroughly investigate the utility's claims. Why? Because we don't need "smart" meters to save money on our electric bill. All we need to do is turn up our thermostat in the summer, turn off our lights and use more caulking as Ralph Izzo (chief executive of New Jersey's Elec. and Gas. Co.) stated in a Washington Post article. The control is literally in our fingertips. Furthermore, if you want real time data to inform you of which appliance is your biggest power hog, go on Amazon and pay $85 bucks for a home energy monitor by Black & Decker or go to Lowes and spend $100+ on the PowerCost Monitor that hooks directly up to your current analog meter. You don't need the utility's meter to be smart. Just keep your current electrical meter that is safe, secure, 99.95% efficient and reliable for free (see page 127 of this document)! How is going into debt and having our rates raised to cover the cost of this ridiculous project a consumer benefit? Open the books, Mr. Krieger, Mr. Wehrli and Mr. Fieseler. No way is this project on time and on budget. Produce the documents and Show us the money! Now comes the question of sustainability, safety and security. Well..... all you would need to do is talk with Curtis Bennett, a Canadian building engineer, whose job it is to make sure building codes are being upheld, to come to the conclusion that this project is not only a waste of money but a risk to our safety and well-being. His expertise using thermographic imaging in Canada has been sought after by some of the world's largest industries: military, insurance, health, legal and utility. He has been asked to testify before the Canadian Parliament and Health Canada about the safety of wireless communication systems. Yesterday, Curtis submitted a 3-page letter to Naperville City officials stating that "Naperville's wireless grid will neurologically stimulate populations, violate building codes with high speed vibration billions of times per second causing fire separations and accelerate corrosion of infrastructure." Why? Because our homes and our bodies are being bombarded by millions of radio frequencies from 100's of sources that are incompatible with building materials and biological systems. How is negatively impacting future generations a sustainable endeavor? Check out the Smart Meter network components on light poles throughout our city so you can recognize what your tax dollars are funding:  Have you ever picked up someone's phone conversation on your baby monitor? Or your radio starts to buzz when you use your toaster? Or what about when you have to turn off your cell phone during takeoff and landing to prevent interference in the cockpit of the airplane you're flying? What about the buzzing or heat you feel in your ear after talking for a long time on your cell or cordless phone? The electrical reality is that frequency interference is occurring all around us and knowing which type to prevent is the key. Curtis informed me that Councilman Grant Wehrli asked him how much he was being compensated and by whom. Would it shock you that he's doing it free of charge because he feels that it's his professional duty to inform the public of the risks inherent to this project? Mr. Wehrli asked me this same question when Dr. David Carpenter MD submitted his letter to the city. So, Councilman Wehrli: How can you continue to minimize expertise that far exceeds the experience level of anyone at the City? | Federal Case Update! |  | | 09-21-2012 Smart Meter Federal Lawsuit Update |
On Friday September 21st, Judge Lee asked many questions during the course of approximately 3 hours of Naperville's Attorney Margo Ely and Naperville Smart Meter Awareness' Attorney Doug Ibendahl regarding the technology of Smart Meters and constitutional law. NSMA Attorney has been asked to submit a brief on October 5th. Naperville has to respond to that brief by October 19th. The judge will issue a ruling by mail the week of October 22nd.

WASHINGTON D.C. - Citing thousands of instances of 'smart' meter fires, health problems, and violations of privacy laws, the National Campaign to Stop Smart Meters and Wireless Radiation Protection Coalition are calling for a National Day of Action on October 4th to demand an immediate moratorium on further "smart meter".
The National Campaign to Stop Smart Meters and the Wireless Radiation Protection Coalition have called for a National Day of Action to Stop Smart Meters on October 4th, 2012. Protests are being planned throughout the United States and abroad.
The wave of demonstrations on October 4th 2012 are timed to coincide with "GridWeek,"a conference being held in Washington D.C. by industry and government proponents of the smart grid.

| More that you can do
| Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home. They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice.
According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter.
We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.
Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
