14 States Allow for Protection/Options - Illinois not one of them.

14 States are allowing for protections and/or options for their residents, many include no fee opt out options, allowing consumers the right to retain their analog meters without penalty.

California

Connecticut

Florida

Georgia

Hawaii

Louisiana

Maine

Maryland

Michigan

Nevada

Oregon

Pennsylvania

Texas

Vermont

Click here to see a timeline of installations and the subsequent public push back which has resulted in local governments and PUC's requiring options for their constituents/customers.

In Naperville, the city council (aka public utility) voted to  forced smart meters on all residents without an opt out option and to force residents who did not want a wireless smart meter to opt for a non-wireless smart meter and pay $25/month for it. Hundreds of residents have refused.

Illinois has yet to make a decision and we believe it will be up to individual towns to come together to protect their residents.

Now is the time to organize and contact your local government.  You can make a difference, just like citizens in these states have done.

Meter Guards, Electricians & No Trespass Signs
Across the country, residents have taken matters into their own hands. They have guarded their analog meters.   They have hired electricians to de-install smart meters when utilities have refused. They are locking up their gates, posting NO TRESPASS signs and protecting their property.*

This is no longer about smart meters.

This is about protecting your personal property.

This is about protecting your constitutional rights.

You are protected under the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment and the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

This is a utility policy that is being marketed as a mandated project. It is an opt in program.

Stand your ground!
Protect your property!

It is your home!

You have the right to protect your property from something that may harm you!

Take back your power!

More that you can do
Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home.  They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice.

According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter.

We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one.

Visit our website for more information on what you can do. Click here.

Contact the Attorney General's office (317-814-3000) or click here
Contact the Governor (312-814-2121) or click here to email
Contact Naperville's Chief of Police. (630-420-6666)

Contact the ACLU (312-201-9740) or acluofillinois@aclu-il.org

Tell them Naperville is not a "police state" and residents won't accept being threatened or forced to install a meter on their home that they do not want.

Sign the Petition
If you have already made up your mind and don't want smart meters in our community then sign the Cease and Desist petition.

Tell the city to stop the install of  smart meters in Naperville.

Thousands of residents have already signed on.

*NSMA cannot legally advise whether or not to do any of these items.  Each homeowner must make this decision after considering and accepting responsibility for any ramifications.

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)4 group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.

Movie: "Where do the Children Play" and Open Discussion
Where Do the Children Play is a one-hour documentary for public
television that examines how restrictive patterns of sprawl,
congestion, and endless suburban development across America are
impacting children's mental and physical health and development."

"Using the adage that children represent 20 percent of the world's
population but 100 percent of its future, the film opens by examining
differences between growing up today, with all its inherent obstacles
and temptations, and childhood as it was lived 50 years ago."

PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE DUE TO THE 4TH OF JULY HOLIDAY.

How long have you been a member of HMN?   Since January

I'm a Holistic Mom because:  It is a natural fit.  I have always been very environmentally conscious and tried to live a holistic life. Every decision I make I try to think how it will affect the environment (I get excited every time I can reuse something instead of throwing it away). I also try to eat local and organic as much as possible.

Being a mom is the most wonderful "job" and I hope all mothers feel the joy I feel in being a mother. Once I had my baby, I realized how much more I have to give. Being a mom makes you realize you are capable of doing many things at once but also how important it is to take time to enjoy your children and be in the present moment with them.

Thus the Holistic Mom's Network is a natural fit for my way of life. It seems like the ideal organization for my beliefs and passions.

My holistic passions are:
One of my biggest holistic passions is protection of the earth for future generations. I feel if you teach a child at a young age to love and care for the earth then as they get older they will work towards preserving it for future generations.

In addition, the most important thing to do as a parent is to love your children. As long as a child feels love they can lead a healthy life. Once you have showed them and told them they are loved then it is important to teach them to love all people, creatures and beings on this earth. It is important to teach them that even though people are different and have different passions and beliefs we are all connected in this world and how it is important to be accepting of all people.

Also I am a very spiritual person. I feel discussions about what one feels spiritually allows more openness and acceptance of others. In learning about other types of beliefs and practicing them helps you develop your own spirituality more fully as well as accepting others even if you do not agree.

What inspires me about Holistic Moms or holistic living?  I am inspired by my baby, Eva and my husband. I love spending time with them especially outdoors. If Eva is getting on my nerves then it is best to go for a walk and be outside, she loves the outdoors and so do I.

I am inspired by Holistic Moms knowing that there are people who are working to make a difference in this world. I stay positive by looking all around at the good that people are doing and see that on the local level there are people that care even if it is sometimes hard to see on the global level.

I am inspired by seeing the beauty of creation, seeing the intricate detail in all beings and how creation has led to this point and that we all have a hand in creating the future for ourselves, our children, grandchildren and future generations.

One of my favorite healthy recipes:

  • 5 Hard Boiled Eggs, chopped
  • 1 celery, minced
  • 2 Tbsp of shredded carrot
  • 1 Tbsp of chopped red onion or fresh chives
  • 1 Tbsp of plain yogurt or more to taste
  • 1 Tbsp of mayonnaise
  • Fresh Dill to taste
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
Mix all ingredients together and add more dill, mustard or lemon juice as necessary. Spread on a "sandwich" of choice.
