ComEd has submitted their Smart Grid Plan to the ICC, but it is not without confusion.  Public comment on this very important project is crucial. Contact the ICC for public comment by clicking here:  Comments Scroll to Docket # 12-0298 Details: ComEd AMI Docket 12-0298 All residents are encouraged to comment.   14 States Allow for Protection/Options - Illinois not one of them.   14 States are allowing for protections and/or options for their residents, many include no fee opt out options, allowing consumers the right to retain their analog meters without penalty.   California Connecticut Florida Georgia Hawaii Louisiana  Maine Maryland Michigan Nevada Oregon Pennsylvania Texas Vermont   Click here to see a timeline of installations and the subsequent public push back which has resulted in local governments and PUC's requiring options for their constituents/customers.   In Naperville, the city council (aka public utility) voted to  forced smart meters on all residents without an opt out option and to force residents who did not want a wireless smart meter to opt for a non-wireless smart meter and pay $25/month for it. They have guarded their analog meters.   They have hired electricians to de-install smart meters when utilities have refused. They are locking up their gates, posting NO TRESPASS signs and protecting their property.*            Click here for more pictures:  This is no longer about smart meters.  This is about protecting your personal property.  This is about protecting your constitutional rights. You are protected under the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment and the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This is a utility policy that is being marketed as a mandated project. It is an opt in program. Stand your ground!   Protect your property!   It is your home!  You have the right to protect your property from something that may harm you! Take back your power! More that you can do Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home.  They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice. According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter. We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one. Visit our website for more information on what you can do. Tell them Naperville is not a "police state" and residents won't accept being threatened or forced to install a meter on their home that they do not want. Sign the Petition If you have already made up your mind and don't want smart meters in our community then sign the Cease and Desist petition.   Tell the city to stop the install of  smart meters in Naperville.
