Naperville Smart Meter Awareness Empowering the community to "Take Back Your Power" by informing the community about the risks of "smart" meters. Take Back Your Power May 31, 2012 Chicago Join NSMA on May 31, 2012, at 9:30 am, in Courtroom 1403 (Judge Chang), Everett McKinley Dirksen United States Courthouse, 219 South Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL.   Federal Judge Chang will hear arguments from NSMA Attorney Doug Ibendahl and the City of Naperville's attorney.  NSMA filed a motion requesting that, as this lawsuit moves forward, home and business owners can request to opt-out and retain their analog meter until a final ruling is made by the judge. Further, the motion requests that the judge order the City to re-install an analog meter to a home or business upon request. View the Judge's order here. States including California, Maine and Vermont have responded to customer concerns about higher bills and safety by offering them the option of keeping their conventional devices for an extra charge. Contact the ICC for public comment by clicking here:  Comments Scroll to Docket # 12-0298 Details: ComEd AMI Docket 12-0298 All Illinois residents are encouraged to comment.   Federal Lawsuit Status Update On April 19, Judge Chang began proceedings to rule on the motion for injunction to halt the forced installation of smart meters on Naperville residents until reasonable options are afforded them. The outcome of the preliminary hearing was as  expected. Despite the city's attempt to spin this as a victory, the judge adhered to the rules of proceedings. The hearing was a briefing schedule and nothing more. The next hearing is scheduled for May 31, 2012. They have guarded their analog meters.   They have hired electricians to de-install smart meters when utilities have refused. They are locking up their gates, posting NO TRESPASS signs and protecting their property.*            Click here for more pictures:  This is no longer about smart meters.  This is about protecting your personal property.  This is about protecting your constitutional rights. You are protected under the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment and the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This is a utility policy that is being marketed as a mandated project. It is an opt in program. Stand your ground!   Protect your property!   It is your home!  You have the right to protect your property from something that may harm you! Take back your power! More that you can do Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home.  They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice. According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter. We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one. Visit our website for more information on what you can do. Tell them Naperville is not a "police state" and residents won't accept being threatened or forced to install a meter on their home that they do not want. Sign the Petition If you have already made up your mind and don't want smart meters in our community then sign the Cease and Desist petition.   Tell the city to stop the install of  smart meters in Naperville.
