Naperville City Press Release delivers false statements
Many residents in Naperville have been engaged in conversations with and complaints against the city for the infringement on personal property rights through the city's smart meter program.

One such resident has filed several complaints with various agencies, including the Attorney General,  who is currently investigating the situation in Naperville.

Recently, Kit Weaver contacted us regarding false statements made by the City of Naperville in a press release dated April 19, 2012.

He wrote to us:

"I saw a Naperville Sun article which talked about the recent court hearing on smart meters. In it was the following statement: "In addition, a complaint filed with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regarding
smart meter radio frequency emissions was determined to have no merit and dismissed," Ely said.

The above statement is false.

I later figured out that this statement was originally part of a Naperville press release, which makes it even worse, since now I know it was intentional remarks, not misquotes from a press reporter or off the cuff comments."

This is an example of the misrepresentation of information that has come from the city regarding the  smart meter program. City council members have gone so far as to tell residents that "the meters are broken" and that is why the city is putting in smart meters. Naperville residents can't look to our local officials to protect our interests or even give us the real story.

Kits sums up the issues in his complaint tot he Attorney General..well documented and eloquently argued.

Kit's complaint to the Attorney General can be found here.

Kit's credentials:
Health Physicist
B.S. Engineering Physics
M.S. Nuclear Engineering with a specialty in Radiation Protection
Plenary Member, Health Physics Society
Member, Midwest Chapter Health Physics Society, 3 times Chapter President
Retired Employee from Exelon after 25 years, where among my various titles included Sr. Technical Expert for Radiobiological Effects

Federal Lawsuit Status Update
On April 19, Judge Chang began proceedings to rule on the motion for injunction to halt the forced installation of smart meters on Naperville residents until reasonable options are afforded them.

The outcome of the preliminary hearing was as  expected. Despite the city's attempt to spin this as a victory, the judge adhered to the rules of proceedings. The hearing was a briefing schedule and nothing more.

The next hearing is scheduled for May 31, 2012.

Meter Guards, Electricians & No Trespass Signs
Across the country, residents have taken matters into their own hands. They have guarded their analog meters.   They have hired electricians to de-install smart meters when utilities have refused. They are locking up their gates, posting NO TRESPASS signs and protecting their property.*

This is no longer about smart meters.

This is about protecting your personal property.

This is about protecting your constitutional rights.

You are protected under the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment and the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

This is a utility policy that is being marketed as a mandated project. It is an opt in program.

Stand your ground!
Protect your property!

It is your home!

You have the right to protect your property from something that may harm you!

Take back your power!

More that you can do
Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home.  They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice.

According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter.

We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one.

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)4 group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
