Multiple Senators have introduced smart meter bills that will actually protect consumers rights to choose what type of technology is installed on their homes.
Michigan:
HB5411Allows consumers to deny installation of a smart meter and to uninstall a smart meter at the customers request, with additional provision for safety and privacy.
Maryland:
HB878Provide customers the ability to refuse a smart meter and to have one removed.
Georgia:
SB459Consumer may elect not to use smart meter and that they shall not be charged.
Vermont:
SB214Requires electric company to obtain written consent before installing wireless smart meter and the removal, at no cost, if so requested by a customer.

Local Legislators who voted against the smart grid/smart meter bill SB1652 include Senator Chris
Lauzen (217-782-0052), Rep Fred
Crespo (630-372-3340), and Rep Keith
Farnham (847-841-7130).
Click their names to reach out to them to tell them to consider submitting/supporting a bill
in Springfield similar to those above that would advocate for residents to have the right to retain their analog meters without penalty.
