Naperville Smart Meter Awareness Informing the community about the risks of "smart" meters  Was your analog meter replaced without your consent? PROTECT YOUR ANALOG METER! City pushing back with heavy handed response to residents who have refused the smart meter. With a heavy hand, the city continues to attempt to trample on resident's constitutional rights. Residents have been fighting back. Refusals are working! They are working so well that on March 20, 2012 UPA installers were told to disregard "do not install" signs placed on residents meters. Why would a city have to be so heavy handed if only a small number of residents were refusing? Because the number is no longer small!!! There are enough residents who are refusing the meters that the city is now afraid the systems integration will fail. The business plan is falling apart. Councilman Fieseler recently told NSMA that he would be happy to allow residents to keep their analog meters if we could limit the refusals to 500. We told him this is about choice. We shouldn't have any authority to limit resident's choices, neither should the city. When the city no longer has your best interest at heart, it becomes the community's responsibility to protect each other and our constitutional rights. Across the country, residents have taken matters into their own hands. They have guarded their analog meters.  They have hired electricians to de-install smart meters when utilities have refused. You are protected under the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment and the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This is a utility policy that is being marketed as a mandated project. It is an opt in program. More that you can do Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home.  They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice. According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter. We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one. Visit our website for more information on what you can do. Tell them Naperville is not a "police state" and residents won't accept being threatened or forced to install a meter on their home that they do not want.
