ALERT!
PROTECT YOUR ANALOG METER!

City pushing back with heavy handed response to residents who have refused the smart meter.

With a heavy hand, the city continues to attempt to trample on resident's constitutional rights.

Residents have been fighting back.
Refusals are working!

They are working so well that on March 20, 2012 UPA installers were told to disregard "do not install" signs placed on residents meters. They were told to disregard the wishes of homeowners and install the meter anyway.

Installer instructed to disregard signage
Installers instructed to disregard signage

Visit our YouTube page for a video of this residents conversation with the city.

Why would a city have to be so heavy handed if only a small number of residents were refusing?

Because the number is no longer small!!!

There are enough residents who are refusing the meters that the city is now afraid the systems integration will fail. The business plan is falling apart.

Councilman Fieseler recently told NSMA that he would be happy to allow residents to keep their analog meters if we could limit the refusals to 500. We told him this is about choice. We shouldn't have any authority to limit resident's choices, neither should the city.

When the city no longer has your best interest at heart, it becomes the community's responsibility to protect each other and our constitutional rights.

Across the country, residents have taken matters into their own hands. They have guarded their analog meters.  They have hired electricians to de-install smart meters when utilities have refused. They are locking up their gates and protecting their property.*

Help support the federal lawsuit against forced installation of smart meters.

A positive outcome in the US Federal courts paves the way for all communities to
receive injunctive relief.

Please help us raise $10K to get
through this next phase.

Don't live in Naperville, why s
hould you care?

Because smart meters are being rolled out across the country.  You may already have one or may be getting one.  They will raise your electric bills as evidenced across the country.  The will invade your privacy, as reported to Congress last month. They represent a significant public health threat as reported by the American Academy of Environmental Medicine.

More that you can do
Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home.  They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice.

According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter.

We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one.

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)4 group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
