A Message From Our President

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness

Empowering the community to
"Take Back Your Power"
by
informing the community about the risks of
"smart" meters.

A Message From Our President

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

I hope that you are each enjoying a wonderful kick-off to summer! Our three children are all home and plunging into summer fun with tennis lessons, soccer clinics, swimming and soon-to be lacrosse, thankfully not all at once! Aaah, I wish juggling camp schedules was my only priority for the summer! However, just like applying sunscreen, reviewing swimming safety and "night" game rules, I am still advocating for the rights of all of us to choose what goes on our homes and the right to manage our property.

The "smart" meter debate is still a hot issue and heating up!

Federal Case Update

The Federal Case has been reassigned to a new judge. The honorable John Z. Lee will preside over the hearing at a future date.

Winning this motion for Preliminary Injunction would mean that anyone can refuse without the fear of financial repercussions imposed by the city. Furthermore, those of you who already have a "smart" meter could get them removed.

As a result of residents, just like us, demanding the protection of these basic Constitutional rights, digital utility meters (DUM) being removed without penalty around the country.

We need your help

We are committed to helping Naperville residents protect and preserve these rights.

But we cannot do it alone.

Our attorney has worked tirelessly advocating for the rights of Naperville citizens. A victory in court grants all of us the right to choose, to protect our property, to protect our families.

Please help us cover these expenses so we can continue advocating for our children, the elderly, and those who remain uniformed.

We need to raise an additional $5000 to support upcoming legal costs.

We have been grateful for the contributions from both Naperville residents and the many residents outside of Naperville (and even Illinois). Every donation has helped - $25, $50, $100, $250, $500+, monthly and one-time donations - but there is more to do.

Naperville Residents Are Not Alone

Our fight to protect and defend our homes and families is not unique.

14 states
are working toward (or are already) allowing residents to keep their analog meters.

CA, CT, FL, GA, HI, LA, ME, MD, MI, NV, OR, PA, TX, VT and
AK (just beginning the process) are  defending their homes and protecting their families.

International governments and communities throughout Canada and the UK that are also allowing residents to keep their analog meters.

Ultimately, this is about people, not a flawed utility policy that still has a lot of kinks to work out.

To protect yourself and be part of the solution do the following:

  1. Deny the installation of a Smart Meter on your home
  2. Write an affidavit, stating your reasons for opposition, for our federal court case by emailing NapervilleSmartMeters@yahoo.com
  3. Donate your time by emailing  NapervilleSmartMeters@yahoo.com
  4. Tell your friends and neighbors
  5.  Make a donation
Come Together

We need to come together as a community and protect those most fragile in our society!

How can this be accomplished? Its simple.

Rather than believing the hype of an over-marketed utility product, residents nationally and internationally are becoming informed consumers and are pushing back against the utility's digital utility meters (DUM) because they are failing to live up to their marketed taglines of being safe, secure and financially responsible.

Legal battles are resulting and residents are winning.

Judges and local governments across the  country are siding with residents and protecting the civil liberties and personal property rights of all of these residents.

Naperville residents deserve this same freedom.

Visit our what you can do page and donate now to help protect our personal liberties and our freedom to choose.

With Sincere Gratitude,

Kim Bendis

Meter Guards, Electricians & No Trespass Signs
Across the country, residents have taken matters into their own hands. They have guarded their analog meters.   They have hired electricians to de-install smart meters when utilities have refused. They are locking up their gates, posting NO TRESPASS signs and protecting their property.*

This is no longer about smart meters.

This is about protecting your personal property.

This is about protecting your constitutional rights.

You are protected under the 4th, 5th, and 14th Amendment and the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

This is a utility policy that is being marketed as a mandated project. It is an opt in program.

Stand your ground!
Protect your property!

It is your home!

You have the right to protect your property from something that may harm you!

Take back your power!

More that you can do
Many residents do not want a smart meter installed on their home.  They want the choice and according to the U.S. Constitution and the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have that right. The city has denied its residents the choice.

According to the city you will have opportunities to refuse the wireless smart meter, but you must sign up for the non-wireless alternative and pay the monthly penalty fee to protect your home and family. If after the 3rd attempt to install a meter on your home, and you have not signed up for the alternative, the city says it will bring a police escort to your home to intimidate you into allowing the installation of the wireless smart meter.

We feel this is outrageous. There must be something serious wrongly with smart meters if the city has to threaten you to install one.

Visit our website for more information on what you can do. Click here.

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)4 group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
