| How long have you been a member of Holistic Moms Network? I am a new member--just joined in August of 2014.
I am a holistic mom because: I have been on a long journey of self-discovery and health that has led me to this lifestyle! Continuing similar practices during this path as a new mother just makes sense to me both due to my training as a pediatric occupational therapist, and my maternal instincts.
My holistic passions are: Natural childbirth (especially water birth), breastfeeding advocacy, vegetarianism, whole/natural foods and cooking, baby-led weaning, natural forms of healing, and attachment parenting. What inspires you about HMN or holistic living? This group inspires me because I am thrilled to find like-minded, powerful women. Holistic living inspires me because it taps into the intuitive knowledge of my body, nature, and the universe.
One of my favorite healthy recipes:
Thai Coconut Vegetable Soup Recipe This recipe is both vegetarian and vegan, so it is 100% egg-free, dairy-free and cholesterol-free. It is from vegetarian.about.com and is a favorite in my household for my non-vegetarian family! INGREDIENTS *1 onion, diced *2 red bell peppers, diced *3 cloves garlic, minced *1 carrot, sliced *1 can chickpeas (optional) *4 tbsp olive oil *1/2 tsp cumin *1/2 tsp coriander *1/4 tsp cayenne *2 1/2 cups diced tomatoes *1 cup coconut milk *1 cup peanut butter *1/2 cup vegetable broth *juice from 3 limes *1 tsp salt *1/2 cup fresh chopped basil or cilantro PREPARATION Sautee the onion, peppers and garlic in olive oil in a large pot until onions are soft, about 3-5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, except for the basil and bring to a simmer. Allow to cook over low heat for one hour. Transfer half of the soup to a blender and puree until smooth, then return to the pot. Or, my favorite---use your immersion blender!! Add basil or cilantro and enjoy! I like to add extra chickpeas and carrots, as well as some organic tofu sautéed in coconut oil.

| LIGHTHOUSE WELLNESS "Lighthouse Wellness...A Beacon of Light". I am a Traditional Naturopath, Graduating from Midwest University in Iowa. In my practice, I deal with Root Cause. The Medical world has coined terms for dis-eases, but really we (ND's) look at them as symptoms of something greater. If you eliminate the root cause, the symptoms dissipate. One of the tools I use is Iridology which is a diagnostic tool used since the 1900's to assist with identifying weak areas of the body. Currently, I am offering through the month of October a $40 -15min. consultation for HMN members and their loved ones. My office is Located in Lombard at 1127 S. Main St. in West Suburban Wellness office. You can contact me by email or at my office phone: scottcare@sbcglobal.net 630-629-9500. I would Love to help you or your loved one in the Quest for True Wellness and the happiness that comes along with being symptom free. -Maria Malak | Contact Us | Dorothy Coop Christy Poniatowski |
