Next Month's Meeting
The Five Love Languages
Tuesday, November 1, 2011 7-9 PM
Holidays are around the corner. Think of all those family occasions coming up...(ok, now breathe.)  What if you and your significant other could be a united front this year because you knew his 'love' language, which made you two communicate better?  Better yet, if he knew your 'love' language, and could finally tell you how he really feels about your 'Aunt Dottie'.  This is possible!  Join us for a casual discussion and review of Gary Chapman's "The 5 Love Languages," and take your own quiz to uncover your dominant love language.  A spousal quiz will be included too.  In fact, bring 'em along.  You many be surprised at what you two learn about yourself, but most importantly, you will learn how your style affects your personal relationships.  No need to read the book ahead of time.  We'll sum it up for you. This is a fun exercise/presentation that reigns truth in the world of our favorite relationships of the people we love the most.

How long have you been a member of HMN?   About a year. We became members during my pregnancy with my daughter last summer.  Being transplants from Chicago we were looking for a like minded parenting community in the suburbs.

I'm a Holistic Mom because: As a physician that practices natural medicine and a mother my focus has always been on natural health and living.  My whole life I have gravitated towards this concept.  I grew up in the country on a small farm where my mom made homemade breads and everything from scratch and if we got sick she took us to the local chiropractic physician for botanical medicine and adjustments.  My mother had three children naturally and breastfed all of us past one year.  So when it was time for me to become a mother I had been empowered as a result of seeing my mom mother and nurture our family naturally.  As a result, we had an amazingly beautiful home birth with our daughter.  And I am proud to say she is still breastfeeding and totally pure after one year; just a beautiful, thriving organic child.

My holistic passions are: obviously natural medicine.  I think nature is full of power and it is amazing how we can harness that essence and use it to help the body heal itself. I particularly have an interest in botanical medicines; I am always researching ways to treat what ails the body naturally.  I feel so privileged to be able to practice medicine the way I do.  I feel honored to help my patients and be part of their family's journey towards health.

What inspires me about Holistic Moms or holistic living?  The women and their children of HMN inspire me.  I am always amazed at the conviction of the members and how passionate everyone is about ensuring their families are living naturally.
