 | The Truth behind Naperville's Smart Meter Debate |
 | Naperville Smart Meters | The following statements were shared by a resident who engaged Councilman Chirico about the smart meter debate. "Regarding your statement that most people you have spoken to don't know anything about SM; I think that says it all. If this were truly an important public debate or controversy then you would not being receiving the response you are getting after it has been public for 18 months. The fact is, this is a non issue to most people.... " "I speak to hundreds of people regarding SM and I have not heard one concern from the general public...How could we be experiencing such a different response on the same topic? Simple. When I speak to people I give them factual information." Councilman Chirico can be reached at ChiricoS@naperville.il.us or join us at the next council meeting to tell him in person how you feel.

At October 4th's council meeting hundreds of residents showed up to express their concerns. Even still, the council believes they can move forward with this project without the input of the public.
The council will also be discussing a proposal from AT&T to afix cell antennas to the light poles in our city. Click to see the October 7 Our response to council has been the following:
"We suggest and request that you not move to consider the AT&T antennas until the smart meter debate has been resolved and you have ample time to get input from the public about their willingness to have cell antennas right outside their homes. We hope that you will share both sides of the research, so that residents can make informed choices.
Considering the smart meter debacle, it would be disingenuous for the council to even consider this project, yet alone pursue it with out ample public awareness. We recommend direct contact via letter to each residence within 1 mile of each proposed antenna."
Once again, we invite you to join us to weigh in on this and the smart meter project.
This our government. We are able to decide. We must be willing to voice our concerns.
Meet at city hall by 6:45 pm. Let us know if you will be joining us: NapervilleSmartMeters@yahoo.com or call Jennifer 630-579-0659 www.NapervilleSmartMeterAwareness.org
