October 24, 2011 - On October 4, 2011, hundreds of Naperville residents attended a city council meeting in strong opposition of the impending installation of 57,000 wireless smart meters in their community. Nineteen speakers lined up to express their concerns about the implementation. Residents in Naperville formed the Naperville Smart Meter Awareness group in February 2011 to educate the public about the concerns and mounting public outcry across the country about wireless smart meters.
