Nightmare on OUR street: Trick or Treat?

Keep Your Power:
Refuse "Smart" Meters!
Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Over the weekend Dave and I attended a super fun Halloween party where the ghoulish met the mysterious and mingled with the politically correct and incorrect. We laughed and clinked glasses with zombies, Disney characters, Clorox's double impact "plumber," and even a City of Naperville and "smart" meter couple
...
Nightmare in NaperWorld
What lurks in the shadows of City Hall when residents are tucked safely in their homes? Tricks or treats? Unfortunately, the nightmare continues as the City of Naperville's multi-million dollar expenditure in 57,000+ digital utility meters (DUM) continues to grow, much like their investment in the $4 Billion Prairie Coal Plant which is going to be generating most of Naperville's electric power. Could the City be trying to play the ultimate "trick" on its residents by convincing them that they need to replace a perfectly good meter with a risky meter so that they can cover the cost of a coal plant that's not even working or producing power? The City's version of a "treat" is to give us a product that doesn't work and pay for a plant that doesn't produce (see page 9 of "What Are the Real Costs of Prairie State?").  Isn't this fraud?

Smart Grid projects are proving to be a bust all over the country. The City of Naperville has used Fort Collins and Boulder, CO, as their "bench mark" cities.  Recent articles show that Colorado taxpayers are being asked to foot the exorbitant cost overruns.

The City of Naperville continues to make investments that are unwise that we're all going to have to pay for unless there is some resident accountability.

News:
So... when UPA or the City of Naperville rings your door bell and says "Trick or Treat," tell them to go where all ghouls and goblins go and to take their tricks with them.

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)4 group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
