Philadelphia Utility Company Halts Smart Meter Installation Due to Fire Risks
|
August 2012 -
| Meter Fires in Pennsylvania |
Dear Friends & Neighbors, Remember when yelling "fire" in a crowded movie theater was considered a harmless prank? That quickly changed in the 80's when teens were causing undue burdens on the fire departments and city budgets. Now, unless you want to risk jail time and hefty fines, according to U.S. law it is illegal to shout "fire" in public unless it is absolutely true. Sooo.... now comes the seemingly harmless utility "smart" meters that the City of Naperville and the entire City Council are forcing on each of our homes, businesses, schools and places of worship.
When PECO, the largest utility in Philadelphia is stopping the installation of "smart" meters and MD is holding emergency hearings (MD Notice of Hearings), what is the City of Naperville thinking by putting a possible fire starter on all our homes, schools, businesses and places of worship?
Why isn't the City of Naperville Fire Departments investigating the Elster meters? In Victoria, BC | Smart meter fire risks? | fires are being reported and the Electrical Trade Assoc. is advising that "smart" meters be stopped until safety can be insured. I recently received an e-mail from Curtis Bennett, a professionally licensed and certified home building inspector from BC who has testified before Health Canada and the Canadian Parliment regarding the risks assoc. with "smart" meters, writes the following about "smart" meter fires. What else do we need to say, No to "smart" meters?
Friends, I am saying that there is enough evidence to say that "smart" meters need to be more fully investigated before putting them on our homes. Are you willing to risk your home catching on fire? Who's responsible for damages? Stand up, speak out, Opt-Out now!!
We have over 700 families who are standing firm and strong to protect people over profits.
Let's bring that number to 2000. Join us in the Naperville Stand-Up and Opt-Out Campaign!! Kim Bendis
