US Warns Industry of Heightened Risk of Cyber Attack

The U.S. government on Thursday warned of a heightened risk of a cyberattack that could disrupt the control systems of U.S. companies providing critical services such as electricity and water.

Officials are highly concerned about "increasing hostility" against "U.S. critical infrastructure organizations," according to the warning, which was released by the Department of Homeland Security on a computer network accessible only to authorized industry and government users. "Adversary intent extends beyond intellectual property theft to include the use of cyber...."

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, safety and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
