Vote April 9: Two Candidates to Support Fee Free Opt Outs

NSMA Logo
Jo Malik & Tom Glass: Vote 10 & 2

Many are wondering what has happened in Naperville and it's time to shake things up down at City Hall.

Two candidates have wondered the same thing as they have watched our city be plagued with drug problems, budget deficit issues, lack of pension reform, and the misuse of taxpayer resources.  They have taken the initiative to put their hats in the ring and try to make a difference by running for City Council on April 9, 2013.

Both have strong stances on the smart meter issue, primarily that the current council should be protecting every Naperville resident's civil liberties and property rights by allowing all of us to make informed choices on what we decide goes on our homes.  They also have strong stances on the many other issues that are facing Naperville such as holding the current council and city management accountable for:

· Open Meeting Act violation - city used public resources for political purposes

· Police Chief collecting a six figure police pension while serving as our top cop - an expensive city resource, our city's attorney was used for the personal gain of our new police chief

· Rich exit packages or consulting bonuses paid out to the former DPUE director and Police chief

· Two Housewives and mothers in Naperville being arrested on their own property for documenting with a video camera city employees and police breaking into their yards with bolt cutters without a search warrant at the request of the city manager Doug Krieger.

· Local Charities that did not receive federal funding because of incompetence in the city's administration of their grant paperwork - Loaves and Fishes

· The city's website, email, and entire network was down for a month, and the IT department received department of the month award

· Continue to underfund pension

We encourage you to visit their websites, ask them questions, and cast your vote for these two candidates on April 9th.

City Council Candidate Forum:
No Smart Meter Questions Allowed

Last nights city council forum hosted dozens of questions about all of the major issues facing our city except one:  Would you vote for a fee free analog meter option for Naperville residents?

Council candidates answered questions about the drug issues in Naperville schools, the water street project, traffic issues, and the recent at large controversy among others but no questions about the smart meter issue.

Par for the course...

This forum was hosted by the Homeowners Confederation, one has to wonder why this organization filtered all questions submitted about smart meters (and by our estimated there were over 11 questions submitted relating to this issue).

Never mind:  NSMA will be submitting one question and one question only to all candidates for council. We will post the results on our website. We STRONGLY encourage all candidates to answer as this is the one burning question that our supports want to know.

Stay tuned for the answer.
Action Alert: Volunteers Needed for March 19 to read expert testimony

Why would the City DENY evidence and highly credentialed experts to speak on the public record at PURPA meetings?

Perhaps because there is something to hide? Or could it be that they think if they don't admit the evidence then they can't be held liable?

Let Your Voices be Heard - Tuesday March 19th

Critical Action:  Submit your comments through March 19 and attend the hearings:

1) WRITE A STATEMENT:  Use the following statement as a starting point or submit your own indicating your stance on the smart meter issue. Statement must include your reasons and sources.

2) EMAIL THE STATEMENT to lafeberp@naperville.il.us and napervillesmartmeters@yahoo.com. Please copy us so we have a record of all statements submitted.

3) ATTEND THE LAST PURPA HEARING March 19 (10am - 4pm). You are encouraged to comment publicly at these meetings or simply read your statement. 10 minutes per speaker. Meetings are in Council Chambers,  400 S Eagle St.

WANTED:  If you are willing to speak but do not want to write a speech, contact us at napervillesmartmeters@yahoo.com and we can provide you with documents to read for the public record.

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)(4) group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, safety and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
