| Tuesday, August 7, 2012 7-9 PM Maya massage: The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy | We can think of no better way to bring closure to the summer months than to discuss the fabulous female body and all the stuff 'down there' that affects our health at our next Tuesday evening meeting, August 7th, from 7-9pm. We'll begin with a brief presentation on Maya Abdominal Massage from Krysia Schwab, LMT, followed by an open discussion regarding female issues and alternative remedies to address them. Bring your remedies in mind and wisdom to share with all. From intimacy to body part malfunctions, to fertility and the beauty of menstruation, this meeting honors our bodies and what we do to take care of them in that department. Anything goes -from "Arvigo (technique) " to "Yeast," so modest members be aware! A bit about Maya massage: The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy TM are founded on the ancient Mayan technique of abdominal massage which is an external non invasive manipulation that repositions internal organs that have shifted, thereby restricting the flow of blood, lymph, nerve and chi. The work is best known for the correction of the prolapsed, fallen, or tilted uterus and for the prevention and treatment of benign prostate enlargement in men, and for relief of many common digestive disorders. | Member Profile
Helen Michniewicz | How long have you been a member of HMN? Since March, 2012 I'm a Holistic Mom because: It's what comes naturally to me and it's what feels right to me. Listening to my "mommy gut" has always served me well!
My holistic passions are: My biggest passion is Attachment / Natural Parenting and creating a family life that is intentional and full of love. I am also very passionate about eating whole, organic, local foods What inspires me about Holistic Moms or holistic living? My family inspires me. Wanting to do what is best for my three little girls inspires me to live a healthy and green life. The connections I am making through HMN also inspires me. I learn something new with every mom I meet! It is wonderful to be a part of such a diverse yet supportive community! One of my favorite healthy recipes: I have to admit, I am not the cook in my family, but here is one of my favorite recipes for stuffed tomatoes, peppers and zuchinni from my greek mother. It's called "gemista", which means "stuffed" in greek.
Serving size - 6
Ingredients - Organic, of course!:
1 lb of grass-fed ground beef (optional, you can make it with just rice) 1 handful of bread crumbs 1 1/2 cups of olive oil 2 medium white onions, chopped 1 bunch of parsley, to taste, diced Pepper, to taste 12 Medium Sized Veggies to stuff, I like to use Green Peppers, Tomatoes and Zuchinni 1 1/2 Cups of Rice Salt, to taste 2 Cups of Tomato juce Directions: Slice-off the top of the tomatoes, peppers, and other veggies and carve-out the inside. Save the "carvings", mash it and mix it with the rice, onion, parsley, salt & pepper and half the oil. Stuff the veggies and lid them with their previously sliced-off tops and place them in a pan. Top with the tomato-juice, bread-crumbs and the rest of the olive-oil and bake in a medium oven for about 1 hour. For meat lovers, saute minced meat with the onions and add to the rest of the ingredients. |
