Smart Meter Arrest Hearing Taking Place Thursday, July 11

On Thursday, Jennifer Stahl, mother of three and Naperville Smart Meter Awareness Board Member, will appear in court. She was arrested at her home on January 23rd for refusing the police-escorted and forced installation of a smart meter on her home.

Naperville Police charged her with an ordinance violation and interfering with an officer, punishable by maximum fine of $500. After several court appearances, the City's prosecutor has not dropped these charges. Her attorney filed a Motion to Suppress with the judge in mid-April.

In anticipation of the hearing, Jennifer said: "I have been overwhelmed by the support I have received from people all over the globe since I was arrested in January. Almost six months later, I am glad to have some movement on this."

NSMA supporters are invited to attend and witness in person the hearing, where arguments by Jennifer's attorney and the City's prosecutor will be heard by the judge.

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)(4) group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, safety and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
