on some key changes to the electrical code.
How will these changes effect you?

Here are just a few concerns:
"Under no circumstances shall metering equipment be placed within a locked area." (Does this mean you can no longer lock your fence?)
"no obstructions within 4 feet of the front and 2 feet of the sides of the Meter."
"Where meter locations exists that are susceptible to rain or ice damage, suitable protection (i.e. roof, eave) shall be installed above in order to protect from damage, at the Customer's expense"
What this means:
Cutting down landscaping, decks, patios, etc that will now be in violation of the code if it is passed. At the customer's expense.
Additional language grays the lines between equipment inside your home that may now be considered connected to the grid that the city will enable themselves to have access to.
Submit your comments to the Council on Monday by attending the council meeting.
Whether you're on the left or right of the political aisle, a Naperville resident or not, the issue of personal property rights and freedom of choice have always been at the heart of this issue.
