City Hall Wages War on Moms

Naperville Women Arrested for Trying to Block Smart Meters

CBS caught it live. Click here.

NSMA would like to thank all of our supporters locally, nationally and abroad for their outpouring of support during this tumultuous time in Naperville.

What occurred yesterday with the arrest of Kim Bendis, President of NSMA and Jennifer Stahl, NSMA Treasurer should strike an internal alarm.

An alarm that asks the question, how much power is too much power?

When your local government is using their power to authorize the city's police force to ignore homeowner's wishes, hop over locked fences, destroy personal property and threaten to shoot your pets, something is seriously wrong.

Today, another Naperville mom opened her door to police forcing her to install a smart meter.

NSMA's phone line and e-mail account were buzzing with stories of threats from City of Naperville installers and police threatening that if they filmed them they would be arrested, but were they telling the truth?

Here's the truth as reported by Courthouse News on January 7, 2013. If everything was on the up and up and this is the most fantastic invention of our time, wouldn't the installers and police WANT to be on film showing how progressive they were?  What do they have to hide from being on camera?

The weight of evidence about smart meters being a DUM idea continues to grows and it turns out  that hacking them isn't so hard after all.

Clearly, this product still needs to be properly vetted in order to mitigate some pretty glaring risks.  So one must ask the question why are residents who are informed consumers and want to keep their analog meter getting thrown into jail?  We encourage you to ask the following people:

They can all be contacted here and here.

Watch these videos and ask yourself, "Who is responsible for using the police force as hired thugs?" Our police force is better than that!

Your letters of outrage, disbelief and disappointment in our local government need to be shared far and wide.

As a result of the charges that the city has placed on Kim Bendis, she will not be speaking publicly about her arrest until all charges are dropped.

Therefore, as an organization we encourage all of you to share your personal experiences of bullying, intimidation and fear at the hands of our local authorities with our local leaders as well as with the media.

A spotlight has been turned onto Naperville and the whole world is watching and wondering how the leaders of a seemingly picturesque city could condone such harsh treatment of private residents.

Which ever side you fall on the "smart" meter issue you must ask yourself, are you okay with the tactics used to force compliance of a utility policy that is not even a state or federal law?

Naperville Smart Meter Awareness is a non-profit 501(c)(4) group of concerned citizens educating the public about the risks of wireless smart meters. We are comprised of lawyers, technology professionals, health advocates, accountants, business owners and parents in our community.

Smart meters are currently being installed in Naperville despite a complaint for federal injunction and on-going investigations by the Illinois Attorney General for Open Meetings Act violations by the City of Naperville in conjunction with this project.

Smart meters pose risks in the areas of privacy, costs, security, safety and health and are not a federally mandated program. Our mission is to educate the residents of Naperville by bringing all pertinent information to the public and in doing so, advocate for a smarter solution in Naperville.
